the twilight zone?...

...nope, just "April Fools!"

This morning when I got to school (early...thank you hunny) I found THIS:please realize...there should be 25 desks in that vast empty space!

i literally stopped in my tracks (the pictures came later), walked back into the hall, and came back into my room thinking, "might as well clock in"...before i noticed THIS:a NOTE! from the perps...Mother Goose, Easter Bunny, Father Time, Santa Clause, Mother Nature, & St. Patrick...members of my "7th pd. class" (also known as my planning period.

it took another embarrassing length of time to notice THIS:

notes on the board! they even took the time to replace my daily information...clever...clever indeed.

the next step was to find my desks, figure out who did it, and concoct a plan. found my desks...stashed in the room across the hall. my neighbor (and 30+ year veteran teacher) is a prankster & one of my favorites. his room looked like THIS:they took the time to line my desks up in between his rows. classic.

the plan? i put my room back in order (after taking pictures) exactly as it had been prior to the prank & then pretended nothing had happened. coach smith (the accomplice) told me who it was...2nd period...the "good class". i started to notice them walking by before 1st period & huddle in the hallway to talk. during class they even said, "are you having a good april fool's day?"..."has anyone played a joke on you?" (my response? "Nooo...") their faces were priceless! coach smith said they even came to ask him about it & he played along brilliantly.

phase 2: tomorrow at the end of 1st period, my kids and i are going to move my desks into an empty room down the hall. when 2nd period comes in i will be working blithely at my desk "playing dumb"...i can't wait!

in other news: still have to do my grading...the kids will be working independently while i get my stuff done. still LOVE being married. still workin' for the weekend. :)
